Brood War released! New units tested!!
The much anticipated expansion set to the best
selling game of this year was finally released. Brood War
should be at a local software store near you, and it is
everything we've been waiting for.
The new units for the expansion set is very cool. For the
terrans, the Valkyrie and Medic join forces. The Protoss add
Cosair, Dark Templars and Dark Archons to the attack. Zergs
counter with Lurkers and Devourers. So far, I have played a
few games, and this is what I have experienced so far.
Remember mass marines rushes, well, add a couple of groups of
medics, and with a science vessels, this becomes even deadlier.
Try to stim pack as they are about to reach the enemy, and watch
the medic heal them to full HP, amazing strategy. The Dark Templars
are quiet annoying early in the game, especially when you don't
have a detector, again, the importance of having a detector or two.
The Zergs don't have that problem, but the new units are
hardly used. The Lurkers are good, but many don't upgrade from
Hydralisks. The favorite race so far seems to be the Protoss
and Terrans.
Things will change, as people develop more strategy. So keep
